Our Ministries

Many of our members are deeply active in our community, serving in social, activist, and professional organizations. Thus, our church ministries reflect a commitment to being small and mighty, seeking to embody joy, excellence, culture, history, and evangelism. Many of our members serve in more than one role...as we are a church that asks our members to find their callings and work in the vineyard. Join us. Find your calling. Follow God.

Prayer & Evangelism Team

Led by Sister Flora Johnson, the Prayer and Evangelism team is actively engaged in praying for the church weekly, and ensuring that our prayer list is individually prayed for regularly. They conduct regular prayer phone calls that allow for all to pray.  Additionally, they plan our annual Revival.

Music Ministry & Worship Arts

Led by Brother Charles Allen and Sister Jenny Shepherd, our Music and Worship Arts are additionally supported by musicians Brother Dayed Powell and Min. Gaysheron Bell. There are two distinct choirs, the Senior and Gospel choir, an ad hoc Men's Ensemble, and a host of ushers.  This ministry meets regularly on Saturday mornings, while leaders meet bi-monthly after church to plan Good Friday, Palm Sunday, Easter, Christmas, Friends & Family Day, and Anniversary services along with regular worship services.

Presbyterian Women

Led by Sister Leslie Watson, The Presbyterian Women engage in a number of activities including regular Bible Study, Women's Day, Christmas Card Exchange, and other missional activities. Presbyterian Women regularly meet monthly after church and are an integral part of the life of the church.

The Men's Council

Led by Brothers Spence Bodison and Manuel Lloyd, the Men's council regularly conducts community service and social events that support evangelism efforts. They are responsible for our Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Men's Day Celebration, and providing support as needed.  Their Men's BBQ's are one way that they convene community at the church.  As of late, the Men's Ministry has also led our Black History Month efforts.

Pastoral Team & Preaching Ministry

number of Chestnut Street's members and "regular visitors" are engaged in ministry. As such, you can often find them preaching in CSPC and throughout the Presbytery.  They are often tapped to preach for our Annual Seven Last Sayings of Christ Service held on Good Friday.  We are grateful to have members who are called by God to the preaching ministry!
